Axie Infinity has just announced an urgent mid-season balancing update, with several stats requiring changes. The patch was announced in the Season 1 newsletter that was released prior to the season launch.
This patch was planned in advance. The Axie Infinity team wanted to launch Season 1 immediately after AxieCon, which means they did not have the opportunity to roll out the patch out of season.
This should be the last balancing patch of the season, but if any bugs or game breaking issues are introduced, they will be fixed.
Axie Infinity tweeted, “This goes against our previous announcement that we would not be introducing mid-season balancing from S1.
“However, given the circumstances and community feedback, we feel we need to be flexible so that the end-of-season meta is more diverse than Season 0.”
What will change during the Axie Infinity patch?
The Axie Infinity patch will make changes to several aspects of the game, including cards, runes, status effects and charms. Most of these changes only affect AoE.
Cards
The stats of several cards will change during the patch. The exact details of the changes that will take place are here.
However, some of the changes players can expect are listed below.
Two Beast class cards will have their stats changed. These include the Cottontail card, which will be reduced from 15 to 5. The effect will remain the same.
The Gerbil card with the tail part will also change. Its previous stat was 60 and it will be increased to 70.
The effect of the Spiked Wing card of the insect class will change. Prior to the patch, Spiked Wing dealt an additional 25% DMG to Shield. Now it will only deal pure DMG.
Runes
Two runes will have their effects changed. These are the Bloodlust rune of epic rarity and the Endless Anger rune of mystical rarity.
The old effect of the Bloodlust rune was to steal 12HP in solo attack, and 3HP per hit in multiple attack. But the new effect will see this change for multi-hit attacks. Players will now steal 4HP per hit instead.
This is a minor but important change. The team explained, “We’ve adjusted this in a very minor way so that the bloodlust effect doesn’t pierce shields.
The Endless Wrath rune of mystical rarity also changes slightly. The old effect allowed you to gain 2 rage when your turn begins, which granted three bonus damage.
The new effect will still allow you to gain 2 rage when your turn begins. And you’ll still get a three-point damage bonus to single-target attacks per stack. But AoE attacks will grant you half the bonus damage.
Status Effects
Two status effects will change in the patch. These are the Bubble and Rage effects.
Previously, the Bubble effect dealt DMG equal to 1.4% of the target’s current HP stack. But in the patch, this will change. The Bubble effect will now inflict DMGs equal to 0.7% in AoE.
The Rage effect will also be changed: AoE attacks will now deal half the damage of simple attacks.
The team clarified these changes by saying, “AoE has been too strong with interactions such as bubble and rage, so we’ve adjusted that accordingly.”
Charms
Four Mystic rarity charms will be impacted by the new patch. They are the hidden razor, paralyzing jellyfish, lazy snail and flamingo hammer.
The four charms will be modified in the same way. While before the patch, these charms applied their respective effects for four rounds on single-target attacks, AoE and multiple hits, after the patch, this will change to two rounds for AoE and multiple hits.
The team explained, “We’ve adjusted these charms so that the interaction with AoE is not overpowered, while still maintaining its normal effect when used with a single target.”
Axie Infinity: A balancing patch for better gameplay
The new Axie Infinity balance patch comes with many improvements for avid gamers. But the Axie team has been busy introducing new projects and updates in recent weeks.
Axie.app received many new features shortly after the marketplace was rebranded. And when Season 1 launched, it came with the largest prize pool ever, with over $1.5 million in prizes.
This new update is another gameplay improvement that will make the new season a success. Even though it comes in the middle of the season, it will probably bring some welcome changes that will improve the gameplay.
