Sorare is taking it to the next level by partnering with an American sports giant: the NBA. A new Sorare game entirely dedicated to basketball will soon be available.
Sorare welcomes basketball in its ecosystem
After conquering the world of soccer, the blockchain game Sorare is now making a grand entrance into a new sport: basketball.
The French startup has entered into a multi-year partnership with the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA).
This collaboration will result in the upcoming launch of a new game for the Sorare ecosystem, focused on basketball. Officially licensed and free to play, the game will be released this fall for the 2022-23 NBA season.
Like Sorare’s popular fantasy soccer game, this new iteration will offer basketball fans a new opportunity to interact with their favorite teams and compete against other players.
NBA players will be digitized as NFTs (non-fungible tokens) and their characteristics will evolve according to their actual performance on the court.
By collecting players, users of this game will be able to compose their dream team and participate in competitions to try to win rewards, such as Ether.
Sorare’s conquest of the sports world continues
Accumulating today more than 2 million registered users, the French nugget Sorare thus continues to introduce new sports to its catalog. After soccer and baseball (thanks to a partnership with the MLB), the startup is hitting hard with its arrival in basketball.
Welcoming this partnership, NBA President Adam Silver said:
“Our partnership with Sorare will give NBA fans a whole new way to engage with our teams and players.”
For his part, Nicolas Julia, co-founder and CEO of Sorare, is thrilled that fans will be able to connect with their favorite teams and players through Sorare:
“The NBA and players have been at the forefront of digital experiences and collectibles, and our game offers basketball fans the ultimate sports entertainment experience where they can play as a general manager, own their own game and foster connections in the real world.”
One thing is for sure, Sorare now holds all the cards to continue its international expansion. The company now touches 3 of the most followed and loved sports in the world, and certainly doesn’t intend to stop there.
