Although they recently launched an alpha version of a game called Machines Arena on Steam, the Civitas team is returning to their core game and preparing their first Character Mint. The Mint debuts on October 4 and features two character types, several archetypes, a Whitelist Mint, and a Dutch auction!
Civitas characters are unique, curated, profile picture type NFTs that also exist as fully animated 3D game models. These NFT characters have a role to play in the game, as well as offering a number of off-game bonuses. These include early access to the game, airdrops, and the possibility of a future whitelist. In-game, players assign Characters to plots of land, use them to upgrade buildings, or send them on missions for quests and events.
Character Currency
This first character mentality for Civitas focuses primarily on their newly revealed character, known as Chosen. There are five Chosen archetypes, but we’ve only seen one, Zola the Warrior. In total, there will be 4,800 characters for sale, including 350 Shamans (the first 50 Shamans were offered in contests).
The sale starts with a Dutch auction on October 4. The price of the coin starts at 4 ETH. Over the next 48 hours, the price drops. Quickly at first, but stabilizing after a while, before finally settling at 0.3 ETH at the end of this round. Each wallet is limited to a maximum of 3 NFTs.
After the Dutch auction comes the whitelist strike. For all those who jumped into the Civitas Discord early and received a Nomad OG or Primigenius Discord role, there is a special whitelist registration page. Whitelist registrants can purchase a single mint for 0.25 ETH. The whitelist sale lasts 24 hours. The Civitas team is also running other contests for whitelist spots, so follow them on Twitter and join their Discord for the opportunities.
Any NFT characters that remain after that go on a 24 hour public sale at a price point of 0.3 ETH.
We don’t yet know if all NFTs will be available at the Dutch auction, or if the release of the different archetypes will be staggered in some way. We hope to have more information on this in the coming weeks.
The Civitas team is also planning to give away random prizes for minors, including a trip to Iceland! You can check out the details of these prizes on the official Mint page.
What is Civitas?
Civitas is a cooperative, competitive, multiplayer city building game. Players gather in cities, construct buildings on their plots, harvest goods, engage in an augmented reality experience to find special resources, and work with other players to make their city the biggest and best!
Players gather resources, construct buildings, and craft items on their plots. They can also explore the world through an augmented reality app on their phone. The augmented reality feature opens up mini-games and the ability to find unique resources. The game will be free to play, but to participate in the governance and decisions of your city, you will need to own a plot of land.
Each city functions as a mini-ODA, called a sub-ODA in the Civitas white paper, and players vote on various governance options within their city. While there is no direct PvP in Civitas, there will be leaderboards and competitions for bragging rights. Each city has a tower that the city’s residents can visit. There they will find statistics and information about their city, as well as potential quests and other CAD-related activities.
Civitas features unique NFT PFPs that also function as 3D game avatars. It will also have its own token, called CITI. Civitas plans to have something to show us by the end of this year (2022).
