Imperium Empires is a play-to-earn real-time strategy (RTS) MMO game developed on the Avalanche blockchain. The video game takes place in a vast cosmic metaverse, populated by fleets of futuristic spaceships (in the form of NFTs) with which players can conquer territories and build their own empire. Guild systems and governance are essential to master the basic mechanics of the game and truly enter the metaverse. Imperium Empires actually encourages users to associate with each other and share rewards.
This mode of interaction has been named team-to-earn by lmperium Empire, or “team up to win”, a reinterpretation of the play-to-earn concept. Within the Imperium Empires crypto game, several game options coexist. It will be possible to play in single player, PvE (player versus environment) mode, where players can try their luck at mining minerals from asteroids and exploring the metaverse. But there is also room for a PVP (player vs. player) dynamic, where each player can become a commander in exciting guild battles and earn big loot at the expense of other players.
NFTs and the tokenism of the Imperium empires
The sale of spaceships in the form of NFTs, which are essential for accessing the Imperium Empires metaverse, began in February 2022 and could only be purchased with the IME token, which also serves as the governance token for this crypto game. During the two sales cycles, it was possible to buy four different types of spaceships: Galaxy Scootie, Strekzans, Augear and Aurostar. Each of the four spaceships has different characteristics, and the price and quantity of spaceships available also varies depending on the category. Spaceships have four main characteristics: health, speed, rotation speed and cargo capacity.
In addition to having different scores for these four characteristics, Imperium Empires’ NFTs are classified according to different degrees of rarity. Rarity is related to the number of NFTs available, for example, Galaxy Scootie spaceships, which are common, number 15,000, while Aurostar spaceships, which have a supreme rarity rating, number only 150. But how do you buy NFTs from Imperium Empires? As soon as the first sales phase ended, users were able to buy and sell NFTs on the secondary market, using the IME token. To avoid one of the main problems of this type of game, namely the loss of value of NFTs as new ones are issued, ships can be destroyed in battles against other players.
But how does the play-to-earn model work in Imperium Empires? The game’s tokenomics involve two tokens within Imperium Empires. The IME token, which is used to manage governance mechanisms and to purchase NFTs useful to the game. IMEs can also be sold on the main Avalanche DEX, such as Trader Joe or Pangolin. To obtain the IME token in Imperium Empires, it is necessary to loot other ships or win seasonal tournaments. The second token is called IMC and, unlike IME, it has no value outside the metaverse. IMC can be used to repair spaceships or to build a guild. You can earn it by selling minerals from asteroids.
When will Imperium Empires be released ?
It will soon be possible to try this new crypto game coming to Avalanche! The launch of the multiplayer Alpha version, in which you will be able to participate in guild battles against other players, is scheduled for August 2022.
To date, only the Apollo expansion is available, a web-based version of the game that aimed to test whether the game’s economy was sustainable. Players were able to begin earning rewards from their NFT spaceships by using their own fleets of ships to mine for minerals, scout, and trade for mined resources in the metaverse.
The Alpha version will not be the final version, but it will be very close. The release date for the full version of Imperium Empires has not yet been announced, but the last quarter of 2022 is often mentioned. Along with the release of the final game, it will be possible to participate in the long-awaited ranked tournaments.
