R-Planet today released the first alpha of its game Conquest to a group of testers. This is the long-awaited second installment in the R-Planet universe. The journey to Mars is over, and now the colonists must fight against the invading forces, and each other, to find a place to live on this harsh world.
It’s been talked about for a long time. And now it’s finally here. The first alpha of R-Planet: Conquest has arrived! This alpha playtest is only open to a limited number of players. But those who have an access code can now download the game and start building their base.
Players choose one of three factions to join when they start a game. A player’s faction cannot be changed during a game season. Each faction offers a particular advantage. Warriors start the game with two Builders, allowing them to have two construction projects underway from the start. Renegades are good at theft and pirate attacks, while Masterminds have the fastest transports in the world!
A game of R-Planet: Conquest supports 1000 players and runs until only 100 players remain. The team expects this first round to take 8-12 weeks.
Conquest base game
The basic game loop is fairly standard for this kind of basic building game. Players mine resources, construct buildings, upgrade their Nexus, research new technologies, build units and prepare their game strategy. Attacks against other players can be focused on raiding and taking their resources, or on destruction.
There are seven types of units. Robots, slow combat units, drones, fast combat units, spies, rams (to break the shield of enemy bases), artillery to destroy their buildings, pirates to capture bases and settlers to take over bases.
Conquest includes four mineral resources, Waxon, Caponium, Enefterium, and Wecanite. Wecanite is used as fuel for robots, while the other three are building materials. Players can build a Terraformator and attach their land-based NFTs to it for mining bonuses. Players can also import previously purchased robot packs via the company’s website. web interface. But be careful not to dump a horde of NFT bot packs on your base as they will consume Wecanite!
Mining of R-Planet’s minerals outside of the game (i.e. via the web page) ended today with the launch of the alpha version. In the future, players will only be able to harvest mineral resources through in-game mining.
Each base has slots for eighteen buildings and nine mines. Each new player has a 96-hour window before becoming vulnerable to attack by other players. Finding the right balance between infrastructure improvements and military spending will be an important key to victory.
First impressions
The game is only available on mobile for now. Hopefully a web version will arrive soon. But overall, the game runs well and looks good. The graphics are sharp and the user interface is organized and easy to understand. Since it’s day one, we haven’t had any combat yet, but I expect there to be plenty of action once the security window closes!
Since the goal of this game is simply survival, we might see a lot of torture from the players. And generally, this kind of game tends to end with a few large clans dominating the landscape. We’ll see if R-Planet: Conquest manages to avoid these potential pitfalls in its gameplay.
This alpha comes with some real prizes. The final 100 players will receive a special Hero NFT!
