Since before the beta even started, the Genopets team has been working to get approval for integration with Google Fit. Finally, this effort has paid off and with the latest update, the Genopets app has permission to interact with Google Fit, hopefully providing a more accurate step counter for Android users!
The latest update to Genopets for Android devices requires the installation of Google Fit. Then, once the Genopets and Google Fit apps are linked, Genopets will use the Google Fit step counter for its calculations. There have been some issues with Genopets counting steps correctly on Android devices. So we hope this update will resolve any lingering issues in this area.
It’s also nice to see that Web3 apps are getting attention from mainstream companies. The acceptance by Google Fit, one of the biggest fitness apps, is a big win for the Genopets team. This also opens the door to integration with wearable devices such as watches.
Also, with this update comes the introduction of Pet petting! By sliding two fingers across the screen, players can pet their Genopet. This has no effect on the game at the moment, but a sound and animation are associated with the petting. In the future, Genopets will include a pet care feature, which will require players to regularly care for their pets to keep them happy.
Learn more about the increases
Genopets continues to release new information and teasers about pet augmentation. Augments are both a physical change to your Genopet and a stat bonus. Augments come in the form of tails, antennae, horns and other body parts. They change the appearance of your Genopet. In addition, Augments provide a multiplier to the pet’s base stats, and also provide a skill. Skills can be attacks, buffs or hacks. They will be used in the Genopets’ Pokemon-style battle game.
Rarer Augments offer higher multipliers. Augments also evolve with the Genopet – they increase in size and detail with each evolutionary step.
Making Augments requires a recipe, a reagent, and a combination of crystals and GENE tokens.
We don’t have a release date for the Augments yet, but Genopets still has a scavenger hunt going on with a reward for the Augments. They’re on puzzle three now, but you can still join and solve the puzzles for a chance to make a limited edition Legendary Augmentation!
What is Genopets?
Genopets is a free-to-play, move-to-earn game built on the Solana blockchain. Using the Genopets app, players collect steps as they walk. They convert these steps into energy and then into KI tokens. KI tokens are Genopets’ primary currency and are used to craft crystals, upgrade their Genopet, maintain habitats… pretty much every feature in the game.
Genopets offers a number of NFTs, as well as the new style of ‘SFTs’ for basic resources. The main NFTs are Genesis Genopets and Habitats. SFT resources include raw crystals, refined crystals, terraform seeds, and other upcoming additions such as pet augmentations.
Players can earn money by cashing in their KI tokens, making and selling crystals, or renting habitats. Habitats are the main gateway to winning in the game. Each habitat contains a genopet. Habitats are needed to convert energy into KI, and for all crafting. Players must maintain their Habitats or production stops.
Genopets include two tokens, GENE and KI. GENE is the governance token, while KI is the main currency of the game. The game is currently in beta, and they are sending out new invitation codes on a weekly basis. Follow Genopets on Twitter and Discord for more information.
