The migration of blockchain games from the Ethereum backbone to a layer 2 or sidechain solution continues. The latest, Voxie Tactics, begins its move later this month, migrating all NFTs associated with the game to Polygon. Owners of Voxie Tactics NFTs won’t really need to do anything. But the team recommends canceling transactions and sales before the portfolio snapshot.
Voxie Tactics, a free, play-and-win strategy game, plans to migrate its game NFTs to Polygon to take advantage of the lower transaction fees associated with this blockchain. The migration will begin towards the end of the month (September 2022) and will take place over two days.
Migration to Polygon
The first stage of this migration starts on September 20, 2022. The Voxie team recommends that all Voxie-related transactions be paused and listings removed from the NFT marketplaces by 10am. At 11 a.m., Voxie will update the metadata information on Ethereum to indicate the migration to Polygon.
On September 21, the Voxie team is increasing the royalty fee for all Voxie NFTs on Ethereum to 100%. This way, if someone buys a Voxie on the wrong network, all funds go to the team, who can then refund the buyer. These fees will go into effect at 10 a.m., and at 1 p.m. the smart contract for the new Voxie collection will be rolled out on Polygon.
Then, on the 22nd, all the final pieces go live. The portfolio snapshot takes place at 10 a.m., and the NFT release on Polygon begins at 1 p.m. Later in the day, the team plans a maintenance period, starting at 5pm. This period is intended to prepare Voxie Tactics games to use Polygon’s new NFTs. The Voxie team has scheduled a two-hour maintenance window, but these things almost always take longer than expected. So plan accordingly!
Not only does switching to Polygon allow players to trade and transfer NFTs with much lower fees, but if they use the official Voxie Tactics marketplace, there will be no gas fees at all!
Owners of Voxie NFTs won’t need to do much. They can even continue playing the game until the maintenance window on the 22nd. With this migration, all NFTs on the Ethereum core network become dead NFTs.
What’s new in Voxie Tactics?
It’s been a while since we’ve covered Voxie Tactics. And while the game is still officially in alpha phase, players can already earn VOXEL tokens and NFTs as rewards for winning battles. Voxie Tactics is a free-to-play strategy game with a lot of potential to be played and won.
Since our previous article and video review, the Voxies team has continued to move forward – updating the game, pushing out bots, and adjusting their gameplay and earning economy. To reward players who were active during the alpha and dealt with various gameplay issues (including sometimes receiving a VOXEL payout void after winning a match), the Voxie team plans to make a one-time drop of VOXEL tokens to players, and is also offering a temporary doubling of awarded tokens. The timing of these two bonuses has not yet been determined, but I suspect it will be after the next migration to Polygon.
